Development

A Developer API Key is issued by Raven to qualified Independent Software Vendor (ISV) partners that intend on developing solutions using Slingshot data. A corresponding Shared Secret is issued at the same time. The Developer API Key and the Shared Secret are a matched set and uniquely identify the ISV to Raven Industries Inc. The Developer API Key and Shared Secret are available only after a completed and signed ISV agreement has been executed.

A Shared Secret is known only to the ISV and Raven. It is the ISV's responsibility to protect the Shared Secret.

To get started and receive your Shared Secret, try the following:

  1. If you do not have an existing slingshot account, create an account on the slingshot portal here
  2. Generate an email for apisupport@ravenind.com
  3. In the email provide a short description of the goals of the integration project
  4. In the email, include your username for the created developer account
  5. As the email subject, write Slingshot Developer Account Inquiry
  6. Provide a copy of the Slingshot API License Agreement that has been signed by your organization.
  7. After sending the email, Raven will reply with a Developer API Key and a Shared Secret

It is helpful to keep a copy of the signed API agreement. If someone requests information about your developer account in the future, we will try to determine if that contact is a valid contact for your organization. Thus it is helpful to add and maintain a list of valid contacts for your organization in the Slingshot you created as step 1 above. If we cannot determine a valid contract, we will request a copy of the signed agreement.
